A brief summary
Well, it has been a minute! What's new? We had a baby and life got busier than it had ever been, I got more exhausted that I had ever been, the house got messier than it had ever been (and then some).
Now that baby is 10 months old and nearly a toddler, and Keira is about to turn four. These really are the longest days and the shortest years. I will re-cap a little here probably, just to have the pictures to look back on.
We've been having some cool and rainy weather here in the northwest and it has been so soothing to feel the air, to see the world in clouded light and hear raindrops pattering against the window. K has had two days of summer camp (this is the last one, the baby is napping and it is such an amazing treat to be alone for a few hours).
I even got a little bit of crafting done, working on a first Christmas ornament for baby Liam. I started this when he was just a few days old and G was on paternity leave and taking K out for adventures, in those long hours of newborn sleep. But then, of course, things picked up and the project got set down. Now, July is half gone and we've already reveled in Summer and have lots more plans still to come.
So, the knitting part - can you see it? The little bonnet was knit on size 0000 needles. He's wrapped in his wave print swaddle and tucked in a Moses basket (the basket will hopefully look more basket-like when I add the little braided handles to the sides at the end. I'm making it up as I go along, in the style of the felt ornaments by Alicia of Posie Gets Cozy.
As for reading... I'm not. I wish I was. Hopefully soon? I just don't have the energy for it after the kids are in bed and the dishes and laundry are... not done, ha! They are never done, not all the way, but after enough progress has been made for us to wake up in the morning and carry on with life. So, no reading currently. Just knitting. Tiny victories.

Oh, hi
I thought it had been a few weeks since I posted, but, well.
More than a few weeks. Summer has been so busy
so far – full of camping trips and trips to the river, play dates and
barbequing and for the whole month of July just doing anything to try to get
out of the heat.
The pictures above are an assortment of moments from the
last two months and some things we’ve been up to. I have also been working a
lot on the house – cleaning, donating, organizing (where did all of this stuff
come from? I swear I don’t even know), and little changes and updates that wouldn’t
look like much to an outsider but still represent a lot of work and improvement
to us as we see it every day. I intend to update here more often and now that
things are settling down a bit I probably actually will.
How is your summer going? Hope it is lovely!
May
I’m laughing going through these pictures at how dreary
everything looks – it was actually a really lovely trip! This is just what
Washington looks like… a lot. I completely forgot to take pictures inside at
all, but we stayed in a cabin on the coast and the beach walks were
interspersed with retreats back to the cozy cabin for hot mugs of tea and
coffee and far too many delicious snacks. K is obsessed with her little pink
umbrella and was very pleased to have it at the beach for the morning we had a
light drizzle.
